Svalbard rock ptarmigan in winter light

My favorite bird, svalbard rock ptarmigan, is the only bird on this archipelago, who dosen’t emigrate. So when all of the birds have left us, they stay!!

They are hard to find during the dark winter, but they can be seen inside of Longyearbyen or on a hike outside of the city. This picture is taken with som extra light, remember it’s dark 24/7.
